Puppy Training Amarillo, Texas
Bringing a puppy into your home for the first time can be both exciting and a little intimidating. As a new puppy owner, it’s important to remember that puppies aren’t just tiny versions of us—they have their own unique needs that are different from ours!
Puppy Head Start Program
($30 / hr or $500 /week)
Welcoming a new puppy into your home is an amazing and rewarding experience, but it can also be challenging. Our program is designed to help you connect with your puppy and create a positive learning environment using modern dog training techniques. This foundation will provide your puppy with clarity, understanding, and the sense of belonging that pack animals naturally crave. The program focuses on encouraging good behaviors and gradually reducing unwanted ones.
Board and Train Obedience Program
Our Board and Train Obedience program involves your dog staying with us throughout its training period. It’s perfect for people who want professional help with training their dog, for those dealing with obedient issues, or who don’t have the time to train themselves and require the expertise of an experienced trainer.
Creating a Calm Dog
($1750/ 2 weeks)
This program is designed to transform your dog’s mindset and behaviors, helping them live a happier and calmer life. Each day, your dog will participate in multiple short training sessions to keep them engaged and motivated. In between training, we incorporate enrichment games to build a strong bond with your dog. A good relationship makes it easier to communicate and work effectively with your dog.
Attention: This exercise teaches each dog to respond to their name and look directly at us when called. It’s the foundation for all other commands, as getting your dog’s attention is key to guiding them through any task within their ability.
Leash Manners: Dogs learn to walk confidently on a leash without pulling or jerking, addressing a common concern for many dog owners. This phase also includes training dogs not to jump on people.
Sit/Sit Stay: Dogs are trained to sit promptly on the first command and to stay in place until released or asked to perform another task.
Down/Down Stay: Dogs are taught to lie down quickly on the first command and to remain down until released or given a new task.
Come: When called, the dog must come and sit directly in front of the handler, staying in position until released or given another command.
Heel: The dog learns to walk on the handler’s left side, adjusting pace and direction as needed, and to sit when the handler stops.
Release: Every command needs a clear end, so we teach each dog the “FREE” or release command, allowing them to move freely without pulling or jerking on the leash.
Place: The dog is trained to go to a designated spot, like a crate or mat, and stay there until released. This is useful when guests arrive or during outings like picnics, where you can direct your dog to their mat for easy supervision.
Each command is practiced in a controlled environment until your dog fully understands what is expected. We gradually introduce distractions such as people, traffic, and other dogs to ensure reliable performance in real-world situations. Finally, we use resistance training to reinforce commands, teaching your dog to comply even when tempted to break from position.
